The Washington Post published a nice article on April 27th about getting started with growing your own food. They talk about berries, perennial vegetables, herbs, mushrooms, leeks, garlic, tomatoes, trees and foraged foods. Check it out!
Here at Henry Street Farms, we have a few tomato seedlings left. I forgot to put the Striped German heirloom tomatoes in the store, and we have quite a few of those. We have a lot of pepper plants available. Peppers grow great in containers in the city, and we have both sweet and hot varieties available.
In a few weeks we'll likely have some more offerings, including basil and lettuce. The red leaf lettuce I planted directly into my containers is being crowded by weeds, so I have some weeding to do today!
